The overall vision of the coalition is: A UK society that values its children. Such a society:

  • Listens to its children,
  • Nurtures and protects its children, and
  • Celebrates its children

This November will mark 18 years since the Convention of Children's Rights let us embrace this opportunity to affirm our children, to show them that we value and cherish them.

When a society affirms its future generation it empowers them to succeed and overcome obstacles and challenges, and to reach out and engage with the issues that affect children globally.

The coalition would lead a number of activities surrounding these objectives which may include the following:

  • Children participating in symbolic leadership across organisations and local government agencies
  • Promotion of the value of ‘family time'. With the erosion of quality time spent together, the goal is to have dinner together as families. Organisations will be encouraged to facilitate their employees.
  • The School Run: Parents who normally do not pick up their children from school will be encouraged to do so on Children's Day and spend quality time affirming their child
  • Military veterans connecting with schools across the UK to share generational experiences of British values.
  • Celebration of a developing nation in schools. This would enhance the Government's ‘world classroom' initiative of ensuring that every UK school is linked to a school in the developing world by 2010. For example: If the nation the school was linked with was India the children would wear Indian costumes, and link with a key development theme i.e. Water or sanitation in India.
